1. NUCLEOSOME CORE PARTICLE AND DiSCO MODEL SURFACES
- The crystal structure (A), the regular DiSCO model surface (B), and the irregular DiSCO model surface (C) of the nucleosome core particle (PBD code: 1aoi). (B) is from Fig. 1B of Beard & Schlick (Biopolymers, 2001); (C) is produced by ViewModel.

2. IRREGULAR DISCO MODELS
- The irregular DiSCO models with different numbers of discrete surface charges N: 62, 79, 144, 199, 277, 353, at minimization distance d = 10 Angstrom and salt concentration Cs = 0.05 M. The charges are already optimized with color representing their values (blue: positive, red: negative). The model surface and the surface charges are all discrete, so the dielectric constants inside and outside the model surface have a same value as that of solvent. The figures are produced by ViewModel.

3. RESIDUAL OF DiSCO MODELS
- The residual of electric field R as a function of the salt concentraion Cs for different numbers of discrete surface charges N, at minimization distance d = 10 Angstrom. (A) The regular DiSCO models. (B) The irregular DiSCO models.
