HOW TO MAKE A MOVIE USING VMD: 1. Open VMD, For Installation Guide go to: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/current/ig/ig.html Documenatation on VMD can be found at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/current/ug/ug.html 2. Load final and initial state of molecule (pdb format) into VMD 3. Make an interpolation using morph 1.0 which can be found at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/script_library/scripts/morph/ 4. Load animation using Animate PDBs 1.0 found at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/script_library/scripts/animatepdbs/ 5. To zoom and change eye viewpoints with smooth interpolation use View Change 1.0 at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/script_library/scripts/view_change/ 6. To animate and render rgb files of View Change command use View Change Render 1.0 at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/script_library/scripts/view_change_render/ 7. Once, you've designed your animation the way you want it to be presented click on Extensions in VMD Main Menu and go to vmdmovie and render the rgbs. In order to generate rgbs in a continuous sequence with one name use the script Trajectory Movie Maker 1.0 which can be found at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/script_library/scripts/trajectory_movie_short/ 8. Convert rgb to movie frienly formats for example, jpg, gif, bmp (making a script would be a wise thing) For more VMD scripts visit VMD Script Library at: http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/script_library/pine I would like to thank VMD staff members John Stone and Barry Isralewitz and my lab members RaviRadhakrishnan and Karunesh Arora for all their help.
